History was made on the Outer Banks on Dec 17 1903. I don’t blame you if that date doesn’t ring a bell; after all we all take the aeroplanes for granted without remembering much the Wright Brothers, whose first flight was on the Outer Banks in 1903.
Now the Outer Banks is one of the coveted places in the U.S. for vacationing for its temperate climate and natural beauty.
Most of the vacation homes are rented out well in advance throughout the year by Carolina Designs. The following places have thousands of vacation homes:

When I travel I don’t look for anything that resembles my home town, my home food, my hometown weather. Yes, I don’t travel to any place that is advertised as a home away from home.
I mostly decline to take vacation anywhere near a sea. I have been born and brought up near Marina beach in Madras, which is the second longest beach in the world. I have had enough of beaches.
In spite of my aversion to beach resorts, I have given my consent to my brother who has invited me to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He requested me not to cancel my travel plan as he got the accommodation in one of the Hilton Head rentals with great difficulty and persistence.
He sent me several brochures of colorful places in HiltonIsland and the website http://www.destinationvacationhhi.com/ itself was very informative about the various vacation rentals they offer.
Let me see if it is really as enchanting as it is advertised.
